Objectives
To know and understand the conceptual systems and practices that comprise the field of supervision and training of teachers;
To identify and elaborate upon problems present within the management and mediation in supervision and training of teachers, integrating them in a comprehensive perspective of scholar education and its insertion into the social world;
To produce an empiric study within the sphere of management and mediation in supervision and training of teachers;
To deepen knowledge about projects within the field of management and mediation in supervision and training of teachers;
To identify and confront different theoretical approaches in function of their ability to analyse strategic options within the field of supervision and training of teachers;
To elaborate the pre-project of the master dissertation.
To perform a research with an empiric dimension

Teaching methods and learning activities
Theoretical-Practical Model, integrating: Moments of structured presentation of contents challenged by questioning and debate around the presented ideas and concepts; small group work on the analysis of cases, resorting to various supports, analysis and synthesis of small texts and development of the master dissertation project based upon theoretic and empirical research.
The independent work evolves around the reading and analysis of texts, theoretical research, and the preparation of presentation of the master dissertation project and its construction process.
Organisation of the course unit
The course unit is developed through:
- Large group sessions for a conceptual approach and theoretical reflection;
- Small group sessions for orientation in the conception and development of exploratory studies that form the basis for the elaboration of the dissertation project;
- independent work
- An “open class” for the presentation of the works, commented by specialists and discussed in debate.

Eligibility for exams
The evaluation process requires that students attend classes, without prejudice of what is stated in item 4, article 9 of the assessment regulation. The mandatory attendance consists of ¾ of the amount of classes.
Calculation formula of final grade
The grades of all evaluation components are expressed on a value scale from 0 to 20.
Evaluation components
Process of construction of the project (30%)
factors:
- Research in dissertations and theses.
- Research of articles in databases
- Small exploratory and empirical study
Master dissertation project (10 to 15 pages)(60%)
factors:
- Identification of a problem
- Theoretical aspects to consider
- Explanation of the foundations and methodology to develop
- Adequacy between the research problem and the methodology to develop
Presentation of the work (10%)
factors:
- Systematisation of the construction process and the dissertation project
- Clarity of the exposed arguments
- Creativity in the presentation

Students who are exempted by law from CU's contact hours will be asked to perform a special test to assess mastery of skills and the CU's programmatic contents. FOR THIS, THE STUDENTS SHOULD CONTACT THE TEACHERS IN THE BEGINNING OF THE SEMESTER.
Classification improvement
In consonance with dispatch number GR.02105/2010 students are able to carry out an improvement of the grade of the exam only once in one of the two examination times immediately after the exam on which they obtained an evaluation.
