Objectives


The Education and Cultural Heritage curricular unit aims to:
To indentify and get acquainted with the different sources, collections and archives of education history research;
To extend the historical knowledge in educational themes as part of community cultural heritage;
To built positive ways of interaction between the school and local culture;
To promote research on cultural heritage and education;
To promote practices of preventive preservation of school material culture;
To learn strategies to promote Education and Cultural Heritage

Eligibility for exams


The assessment process requires that students attend at least 2/3 of the sessions and at least 2 sessions of tutorial monitoring.

Calculation formula of final grade

Assessment criteria:
- Attendance of classes will be considered as well as presentations based on research and thematic readings. This participation will be translated into the development of an “Individual Training Roadmap”. The “Individual Training Roadmap” will assume the form of an individual written paper to be discussed in a seminar;
Session participation – 15%
“Individual Training Roadmap”- 65%
Oral presentation – 20%

Examinations or Special Assignments


“Individual Training Roadmap”: the final work will assume the form of a journal paper on one of the themes of the program unit (10 to 15, A4 pages, size 12, and Times New Roman font, with annotated bibliography, according to Portuguese norms). The theme along with the project presentation should be agreed upon in advance with the teacher.

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)


Working students may replace the “Individual Training Roadmap” by a final exam.

Classification improvement


To improve the final grade students may present a revised version of the “Individual Training Roadmap" or to complete an exam.
