The Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology is an initial training in the field of Psychology that provides the learning of content and fundamental skills about the biopsychosocial complexity of human behavior and different areas of Psychology. In addition to the contact with different models of understanding and intervention in Psychology, the course also promotes methodological and relational skills, including the ethical and deontological dimensions of this science.

This Degree is in line with the criteria of EuroPsy/European Certificate in Psychology, which provides a uniform standard of professional competences and ethical conduct accepted by national associations of psychologists of 38 countries, all members of the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA). Job Opportunities

The profession of psychologist requires a 3-year Bachelor’s degree, a 2-years Master's degree and the completion of a professional internship at the Ordem de Psicólogos Portugueses (OPP). At the end of this journey, it is possible to work in different areas such as:

  • Clinical and Health Psychology
  • Education and Human Development Psychology
  • Justice and Deviance Psychology
  • Organizational, Social and Work Psychology



Objetives

The Bachelor's Degree in Psychology has the general objective of offering students initial training in Psychology, aiming to learn foundational content and basic skills in Psychology. The course was designed in accordance with EuroPsy. More specifically, it aims to:

    • provide students with a scientific culture and knowledge in the field of Psychology, including the biological and sociocultural bases of human behavior, basic psychological processes and social relationships at individual, group and societal levels;
    • promote the acquisition of knowledge and skills in core areas of Psychology, in response to complex human and social situations;
    • offer basic training regarding foundational theories and methods, in the specialized areas of Psychology;
    • allow the acquisition of introductory skills for practice and research in Psychology;
    • promote reflection on the ethical and deontological dimensions of Psychology, as a science and profession, highlighting its professional practices.



Access Conditions

The access to the Bachelor's Degree in Psychology has no prerequisites.

NATIONAL ACCESS COMPETITION, through passing Secondary Education or equivalent qualification, having completed one of the following pairs of exams:


          18 Portuguese and 02 Biology/Geology or 18 Portuguese and 17 Mathematics Applied to Social Sciences (or Mathematics A or B) or 18 Portuguese and 06 Philosophy
