Personal Presentation

I am an experimental psychologist interested in studying evolutionary mechanisms responsible for the perception of attractiveness in humans. In particular, I have been studying how features known to be sexually dimorphic, namely face shape or skin colour, affect mate choice. I also intend to study the influence of chemosignals on attractiveness preferences and intrasexual competitiveness.

I graduated at University of Aveiro (BA) and did my Masters degree (Experimental Psychology and Applications) at the University of Minho. My PhD research was conducted at the University of Aveiro (supported by IBILI in Coimbra) and have spent some time as a visiting researcher at St Andrews University (Scotland, UK). My thesis supervisors were Prof. Dr. Isabel Santos from the University of Aveiro and Prof. Dr. David Perrett from St Andrews University. Currently, I am a post-doctoral researcher at the SexLab.
