Abstract (EN): Several hydroxy, methoxy, hydroxymethyl and hydroxymethoxyxanthones were tested for their influence on the alternative and classical pathways of the human complement system. All the xanthones showed inhibition of the classical pathway in a dose dependent manner. No effect on the alternative pathway was observed for the xanthones tested.
