Abstract (EN): Two decades ago, the first exoplanet was found orbiting a solar-type star. Since then, many surprising discoveries have been made. We now know that the architecture and properties of the Solar System¿s planets are more an exception than a rule. In this paper we review the main planet detection methods and present some of the most interesting discoveries as well as their connection to the study of planet-host stars. © 2018, Springer International Publishing AG.
