Abstract (EN):
In this work the two-dimensional finite difference program Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua (FLAC) was used to model the seismic response of a geosynthetic reinforced steep slope. The reinforced slope, supported by a stiff foundation, is 6.0 m high, reinforced with 10 horizontal reinforcement layers of 4.8 m long. The face is inclined of 80º. FLAC cable element was used to model the geosynthetic reinforcement. The paper presents a study that was carried out to analyse the influence of boundary conditions, mechanical damping and input motion. The permanent displacements of the slope face and reinforcement tensile loads are analysed and compared. This work intends to present some analyses performed to clarify doubts and problems appeared during the seismic simulation of geosynthetic reinforced retaining structures and to report the main conclu-sions.
