The general goals of the UC Anatomy of head, face and neck of the 11th Specialization Course in Orthodontics are:
- To present the general aspects of the general organization of the bone head;
- To expose the anatomy of the development of the head and neck;
- To present the correlation between the normal anatomic development and the anatomic modifications and congenic alterations;
- To describe and explain anatomic aspects of the anatomic superficial regions of the head and neck;
- To describe and explain anatomic aspects of the anatomic deep regions of the face;
- To describe and explain anatomic aspects of the anatomic topographic regions of the neck;
- To present and discuss aspects of the sectional anatomy of the head and neck;
- To present, in a interactive way, the imagological anatomy of the face and neck;
- To discuss the anatomic-clinical correlations of the head and neck.
Basic orthodontic aspects I

The general goals of the UC Basic Orthodontic Aspects I of the Specialization Course in Orthodontics are:
- To insure the Knowledge of the guidelines to evaluate the malocclusion
- To develop subjects related with Class I, II 1, II2 and III syndromes;
- To be able to diagnose the malocclusion anomalies and dento-facial deformities.
General orthodontic aspects I

1 - The general objectives of the General Orthodontic Affairs I Curriculum Unit of the 12th Specialization Course in Orthodontics are to provide the following fundamental skills:
- Ensure adequate knowledge of general orthodontic matters;
- Develop the knowledge in subjects related to radiographic cephalometry, diagnosis and treatment plan in orthodontics;
- To develop skills and a sound understanding of scientific methods, the evaluation of scientifically established information and the analysis of data on the best diagnostic and therapeutic procedures from an evidence-based perspective;
- Acquire a desire for learning based on curiosity, rigor and the pursuit of knowledge.
Iconography

The general goals of the UC Iconography are:
- To insure the knowledge of the basic concepts of photography and presentation;
- The use of photography applied to Dental practice;
- To be able to use adequate photographic techniques during case documentation.
Orthodontic techniques I

Provide the following core competencies:
- To know the main constituent elements of the removable orthodontic appliances;
- To know the main constituent elements of the fixed orthodontic appliances;
- Ensure adequate knowledge of the various types of orthodontic appliances;
- Develop the ability to analyze and apply the postulates of the bioprogressive philosophy.

The general aims of Orthodontic Clinical Cases Treatment I Unit of the Post-graduation Course in Orthodontics offers the following core competences:
- to get an adequate clinical experience in malocclusions treatment;
- to acquire the ability to create an excellent relationship with the patients, dental doctors and general society;
- to get an adequate clinical experience in malocclusions treatment;
- to develop the fundamental skills for autonomous and independent orthodontic clinical practice.
Basic orthodontic aspects II
EORTO 57 - ECTS
The general goals of the UC Basic Orthodontic Aspects II of the Specialization Course in Orthodontics are:
- To insure the Knowledge of the pre natal and pos natal craniofacial growth;
- To develop subjects related long term craniofacial growth and oral functions;
- To be able to diagnose the etiological factors of the malocclusion.
General orthodontic aspects II
EORTO 58 - ECTS
The general goals of the UC General Orthodontic Aspects II of the Specialization Course in Orthodontics are:
- To insure the Knowledge of radiographic anatomy, Wits, Bjork-Jarabak, MacNamara and cervical analysis;
- To develop subjects related natural head position, esthetical evaluation of the face and smile;
- To know the condilar position, and structural signs of Class III malocclusion;
- To develop skills and a well-founded understanding of the importance of the natural position of the head, the aesthetic evaluation of the face and the smile and images as auxiliary diagnostic elements for formulating the orthodontic diagnosis;
- To know the particularities of the cephalometric conversion to the centric relation and the structural progeny alarm signals;
- To know how to apply cephalometric computer programs in planning orthodontic treatment.
Orthodontic biomaterials
EORTO 07 - ECTS
The discipline of Orthodontics Biomaterials should provide to the pupil these indispensable skills: - To learn the basic and elementary principles of the Biomaterials Science. - To know the definitions and terminology relative to metals, polymers and its combinations. - To learn the scientific bases to select, to manipulate and to apply the dental materials. - To learn, through specific exercises, the correct appliance of each dental material.
Periodontology
EORTO 08 - ECTS
It is intended that the student acquire competence and autonomy in the formulation of a diagnosis and plan of periodontal treatment in a multidisciplinary view.
Being a discipline of specialization in Orthodontics, it is intended for periodontal concepts and implants involved in the global rehabilitation context.
In this perspective the following types of patients are addressed: young patient, adult patient without periodontal disease and adult patient with periodontal disease. In all, it will be discussed as a form of Periodontics, Orthodontics and rehabilitation treatment with implants for the best results.
Orthodontic techniques II
EORTO 59 - ECTS
The general aims of Orthodontic Techniques - Unit II of the Post-graduation Course in Orthodontics offers the following core competences:
- to Know the basic notions of orthodontic mechanics;
- to develop the straight wire technique;
- to be able to do indirect bonding.
