Abstract (EN):
Housing is a fundamental human right and is crucial to quality of life and social well-being and is on international and national agendas (United Nations; European Commission). European agendas have highlighted the importance of improving access to housing and reducing housing deprivation. The literature on unworthy housing focuses mainly on identifying different types of unworthiness and developing comparative analyses between countries, highlighting also the need to develop integrated territorial approaches that can support the design of public policies. This chapter compensates for the lack of territorial reflection by conducting a spatial analysis of Portugal. We developed a methodological approach based on multivariate analysis to identify territorial profiles based on different types of unworthy housing. The findings provide very useful information for the design of territorial housing policies.
