Domain of specialization
Analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis, mainly Gas and Liquid Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry for application in Biological and Toxicological Research.
Current interest of investigation
1. Development of GC-MS methodologies to determine secondary metabolites (low molecular weight compounds) in different biological matrices: in vitro cellular systems, blood, urine, tissues; and food matrices.
2. Metabolomics studies in;
Bladder, Prostate and Renal Cell Carcinoma - studies in in vitro (immortalized culture cells), ex-vivo (tissues) and urines (from cancer patients vs control);
Immortalized culture cells, Primary mouse hepatocytes, and testings in in vivo models for evaluation of the toxicological effects of drugs.
3. Metabolic target studies of “legal” drugs of abuse toxicity by using in vitro and in vivo models.
