THE SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL HAS THE FOLLOWING POWERS AND DUTIES:
to develop and aprove its Regulation for proper functioning;
to comment on proposals for FFUP's strategic and action plans prepared by the Dean;
to review FEFP's plan for scientific activities;
to comment on the creation, merging, transformation or dissolution of FFUP organizational subunits;
to comment on the creation, merging, transformation and dissolution of FFUP research and development units, as well as its internal regulations;
to comment on the conclusions prepared by the Dean on evaluation reports of FFUP research units and on evaluation reports of those research units including FFUP teaching or research staff;
to comment on the agreements or protocols made between the FFUP and research and development units;
to deliberate on the distribution of the teaching service, submitting it for the approval of the FFUP Dean;
to comment on the creation, adaptation or dissolution of study cycles in which the FFUP participates, and approve their study plans, after hearing the Department Directors;
to comment on the number of vacancies for new admissions and enrollment under the legal terms in the different study cycles;
to comment on the creation of cycles of study involving FFUP, and to approve the corresponding curricula;
to propose the awarding of titles or honorary distinctions;
to propose and to comment on the creation of awards;
to propose and to comment on FFUP's involvement in agreements and partnerships;
to propose the members of juries for academic examinations and for the recruitment of academic staff;
to propose the opening of academic staff recruitment processes;
to practice other acts provided by the law, concerning teaching and research career, and the recruitment of teaching and research staff.
