Abstract (EN): The absence or hypoplasia of nasal bone and the nuchal translucency thickness are of the utmost importance on the detection of birth defects on prenatal ultrasonography. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of absence or hypoplasia of nasal bone in a pregnant Caucasian Portuguese population, with a gestational age between 20 weeks and 20+6 days. The sample comprised 79 pregnant women that were divided into two groups: a normal group (A) and a group with fetuses with pathology (B). Measurement of nasal bone was detached through the images and reports obtained in prenatal ultrasonography. It was found a relationship not only between the nasal bone and the existence of pathology but also with the interruption of pregnancy.
