Resumo (PT): Quando se debatem temas como a sustentabilidade construtiva e a reabilitação do património edificado, surge a vontade de (re)descobrir um dos sistemas construtivos mais antigos, as alvenarias resistentes. Através da apresentação de algumas obras e projectos actuais onde se aplicou esta tecnologia, desde reabilitação, reconstrução e nova construção, procura-se, nesta comunicação, encontrar os conceitos e princípios construtivos implícitos a este sistema que determinam o projecto de arquitectura.

Abstract (EN): When themes like sustainable construction and upgrading of listed buildings, come to the fore of debates there is a need to (re) discover one of the most ancient constructive systems, the structural masonry. This paper will seek to find the concepts and construction principles embedded in this system that have determined the architectural project, through presentation of some examples and modern proposals where this technology has been used, from refurbishment to renewal or to new construction.
