To achieve its pedagogical and scientific objectives, the Master (4 semesters and 120 ECTS), encompasses 3 scientific areas, namely, Health Sciences, Physical Sciences and Social Sciences, with a large predominance of the first.

The 1st curricular year (60 ECTS) is organized in 9 curricular units (UCs) that encompass: 215 theoretical hours, 112 hours of Laboratory Practices, 7 hours of practices and 78 hours of Tutorial Guidance.
The UCs are taught in a block system, allowing a more intensive and focused deepening of knowledge, being organized throughout the respective semester, sequentially, in scientific and pedagogical terms.
In the first year there is also a seminar work (135 hours of tutorial guidance), with a strand of preparation for the dissertation / project (600 hours of tutorial guidance) taking place in the 2nd curricular year.

The fulfillment of the objectives is observed by the students evaluation in the various UCs, in continuous evaluation, final exam and / or works presentation, respecting the FFUP students evaluation terms. The seminar, as well as the dissertation / project, requires defense in public tests.
