Knowledge of the semisolids systems in the pharmaceutical field: historical perspective and its classification; methods of manufacture; equipment. Learn to formulate and prepare semisolids dosage forms. Development of new semisolids formulations with pharmaceutical interest.
Verification and quality assurance: evaluate the main aspects related to its quality, safety and effectiveness.
Analysis of some of the features of the application places of semisolids systems: skin biometry.
To learn how to develop solid dosage forms and to understand the importance of raw materials in the manufacture of solid dosage forms.
Know the concept of biotechnology: definition and main stages of development of biotechnology. Distinguish the various application areas of biotechnology and know the biotechnological processes. Give special emphasis to the Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. Know the regulatory aspects and bioethical applied to the Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. Acquire a comprehensive knowledge about the various classes of biomaterials used in medicine, both in terms of its properties and its application. To achieve these objectives, the student must apply 81 hours of work (27 hours x 3 ECTS), which correspond to 22 h lectures and laboratory classes 10 h. The remaining hours, 2 h correspond to evaluation and the remaining 47 h study time / work.
The students should know the different categories of cosmetic products, the main cosmetic ingredients, and the procedures for the manufacture, the quality control and the efficacy and safety evaluation of cosmetic products and ingredients. The students should be acquainted with the tools (databases, search engines etc) that will allow them to critically follow the progress in this field.
