The activities of the group include applied and basic research and cover the different areas of Microbiology, namely Bacteriology, Micology, Parasitology and Virology. Furthermore the group carries out research in Applied Biotechnology and Cellular Biology. Research programmes in the Microbiology Department welcome post-doctoral researchers, PhD students, MSc students and undergraduate students. Some members of the research staff are integrated in different research centres, which are IPATIMUP, CEQUIMED/CIIMAR, REQUIMTE/CEQUP and IBMC. Our research is in the following areas:
