Georgina Correia da Silva graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (FFUP) in Chemical-Biological Analysis and Comunity and Hospital Pharmacy. She carried out professional internships at the “Ricardo Jorge National Health Institute” and at the “Jacinto Magalhães Institute of Medical Genetics”. She completed her PhD in Biochemistry in 1998 at FFUP, which involved a research internship at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Leicester (UK).
She has held positions as a Senior Technician at the National Veterinary Research Laboratory and as an analyst in the area of Biochemistry at private laboratories for Clinical Analysis.
In her teaching roles, she is assistant professor at the Biochemistry Laboratory of the Department of Biological Sciences at FFUP and is currently Regent of the UC “Clinical Biochemistry” of the "Integrated Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences" and of the "Masters in Clinical Analysis" at FFUP.
She is also an Integrated Researcher at the Applied Biomolecular Sciences Unit - UCIBIO, with research interests focused on cannabinoid signaling in reproductive biology and cancer and aromatase inhibitors. She is the author/co-author of more than 90 publications in international journals. ORCID: 0000-0001-5787-9018. She has successfully supervised or co-supervised 6 PhD students and 16 Master's students.
Represented FFUP in the Organizing Committee of the UP Youth Research Meetings (IJUP from 1st to 5th Edition). She was co-responsible for the implementation of the UP Peer Mentoring Program at FFUP and of the Professional Mentoring Program Mentor.Pro FFUP and is Coordinating Professor of the FFUP Mentoring Program. She is a member of the Council of Representatives and of the Pedagogical Council where she exercises the functions of Coordinator of the Student Support Office.
