MSc in Pharmaceutical Technology

The Master in Pharmaceutical Technology (MTF) aims to promote a multidisciplinary training and prepare experts and researchers with a high level of knowledge in various aspects concerning the medicinal product, from production, quality control and subsequent market introduction.

The plan for this study cycle includes a strong laboratory component, allowing the acquisition of the following fundamental skills:

  1. Provide in-depth knowledge in the pharmaceutical technology field, with regard to the preparation, characterization and evaluation of the stability of solid, liquid and semi-solid pharmaceutical forms;
  2. To know the different strategies for modifying medicinal drugs in order to improve the bioavailability, stability and efficacy of the drugs delivered;
  3. Acquire knowledge about the fundamental concepts related to biotechnology and biomaterials used in regenerative medicine;
  4. Know the regulatory aspects related to the medicine.

At the end of the study cycle, students should know how to apply their knowledge and their ability to understand and solve problems in new situations, in broad and multidisciplinary contexts, whether for the practice of research or for the exercise of a professional activity linked to Pharmaceutical Technology or related areas.

The study plan is organized in 4 semesters, for a total of 120 ECTS, 60 of which correspond to 10 compulsory curricular units, taught in a block system, which take place in the first 2 semesters, and the remaining 60 ECTS are attributed to a dissertation of scientific nature or a project work, or an internship of professional nature, in the last 2 semesters of the study cycle.

Employment Prospects

This training provides students with professional perspectives in the areas of the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry, biotechnology, medical devices, regulatory affairs, research and others. Thus, this Master provides skills for the performance of various professional functions in the labor market area medicine and health products.
