Abstract (EN):
The main goal of the present work is to propose a simple and low-cost methodological path, using the tools of the Geographic Information System (ArcGis 10.5 Software), in order to select areas for exploration. The procedure proposes the creation of a set of drainage basins, based on the interaction between drainage network and geomorphological data with geochemical data of stream sediments. A sector included in the Dúrico-Beirão District was used as the study object, being characterized by the occurrence of potential areas for Au and Sb exploration, and where ancient exploitation activities occured. The geochemical data of stream sediments were acquired through sampling campaigns developed by the BRGM / EDM consortium from 1988 to 1990. With the geochemistry data, a set of drainage basins was created according to the proposed methodological path. After the application of all the processing, 81 basins very to extremely enriched in gold and 112 basins very to extremely enriched in antimony compared to the upper crust content. Part of these areas were ancient gold mines, which shows the reliability of the proposed method. The proposed methodology can be very useful in new areas discovering, highlighting the fact that it is a fast method and does not involve high costs. © 2020 LNEG ¿ Laboratório Nacional de Energia e Geologia IP.
