Tiago Ribeiro holds the position of Invited Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto (FCUP). He earned his PhD in Science Teaching and Dissemination (2023) from FCUP, with the thesis "An Approach to the Earth System from a Geoethics Perspective: From Citizen Science to Science Education" funded by FCT. His academic background includes an MSc in Biology and Geology Teaching (2018) and a first degree in Biology (with a minor in Geology) (2016) from FCUP. He is involved in various professional academic organizations as: the Secretary (2022-) of the International GeoScience Education Organisation, the Portuguese Junior Ambassador (2020-) of the Universal Scientific Education & Research Network, and Associated Member (2023-) of the IUGS Commission on Geoscience Education. He is interested in professional development and has completed specialized programs, including courses in Qualitative Data Analysis with NVivo (2024) and Statistics and Data Analysis with SPSS (2021). He also completed an accredited course "Ageing, Climate Change, and Citizenship" (2020) offered by EUGLOH. In addition to his role as an Invited Professor, Tiago dedicates his time as a Guest Lecturer at the Senior University of Santa Maria da Feira (since 2022). He engaged in various activities, including mentoring students in the University Junior program of the University of Porto (2017–2023) and authored the School Textbook "ComVida 9" for the 9th-grade (2023). Furthermore, Tiago has contributed as a research fellow in two international projects, including an Erasmus+ Project. Tiago conducts research and serves as Co-PI of the Social and Educational Innovation (SEI) Group at the CIIMAR and his research interests lie in education across formal, non-formal, and lifelong education contexts, aiming to foster innovation and social impact within science education, addressing contemporary challenges and promoting inclusive and accessible learning environments for diverse audiences.
