Objetivos, atividades e resultados esperados/atingidos
The main goal is to prevent disease spread in montado, enhancing cork oak stand health and profitability. Our aim is to develop a
technological innovation to optimize existing solutions in montado, ensuring their accessibility to plantation owners.
Specific aims:
The specific objectives of this project were carefully crafted using the SMART framework, ensuring that they are Specific,
Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. This approach allows for clear and concise goal-setting, facilitating effective
planning, execution, and evaluation of our efforts. By adhering to the SMART criteria, we can enhance accountability, track progress, and ultimately achieve successful outcomes within the designated timeframe.
1.Develop a cost-effective, eco-friendly disinfectant for cork harvesting tools
Specific: Targets disinfection of montado tools.
Measurable: Reduce disease risk by 50% with minimal cost increase.
Achievable: Utilizes existing products and considers economic viability.
Relevant: Crucial for montado health and cork quality.
Time-bound: Achieve by 31.08.25
2.Identify optimal application methods for the disinfectant
Specific: Optimize application for user comfort and safety.
Measurable: Evaluate user feedback and ergonomic impact.
Achievable: Develop methods compatible with existing practices.
Relevant: Ensures user adoption and effectiveness.
Time-bound: Finalize methods by 30.09.27
3.Evaluate the effectiveness of the disinfectant in laboratory and field tests
Specific: Test disinfection efficiency and cork quality (chemical/physical).
Measurable: Track reduction in tool contamination and compare cork properties.
Achievable: Conduct lab tests followed by controlled field trials.
Relevant: Demonstrates solution's impact on montado health and cork quality.
Time-bound: Complete lab tests by 31/01/27
4.Disseminate the new solution to stakeholders
Specific: Educate cork harvesters and forestry agents.
Measurable: Track participation in workshops and demonstrations.
Achievable: Develop training materials and conduct on-site demonstrations.
Relevant: Ensures widespread adoption of the solution.
Time-bound: Conduct workshops and demonstrations by 3 years after the end of the project
5.Optimize the solution for broader application in agro-forestry sectors
Specific: Refine the solution for versatility across industries.
Measurable: Evaluate effectiveness in different contexts.
Achievable: Leverage findings to adapt the solution for other uses.
Relevant: Maximizes the project's overall impact.
Time-bound: Develop a broader application plan by 1 year after the end of the project
