Learning outcomes and competences

In this course unity, the student should integrate the knowledge acquired throughout the course and acquire new knowledge, skills and competences that will enable them to consistently complete their degree in Agricultural Engineering and facilitate their future professional integration.

Working method

Presencial

Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)

The student should have acquired the knowledge and skills developed in the 1st year Introductory Project course.

Program

Internship or Project activities will be carried out individually for 486 hours from the start date of the semester until the report and oral presentation are submitted. The student is expected to spend 144 hours on practical work at the host institution, 18 hours on meetings with the supervisor and the rest on individual research work, data processing, writing the report and preparing the oral presentation.

Internship or Project Plan
The Work Plan must be drawn up individually between the Supervisor and the Student, according to the template provided; it must be signed by the Supervisor, Supervisor (if there is one) and Student, digitalised in pdf and submitted to the course page on the moodle platform.

The student must ensure that, no later than 2 weeks after the start of the semester, the work plan has been submitted on moodle and approved by the course leader. Exceptionally, and depending on the assessment of each case, the Internship Plan/Project may be submitted after this date.

If necessary, the Work Plan may be altered and the new proposal must be submitted on the course's moodle page, including the respective justification to be assessed by the Course's Scientific Committee.

Report
The Report must be submitted by the Student, in the section of the course moodle page, by midnight on the first day of the normal period or by midnight on the first day of the appeal period. Exceptionally, and depending on the assessment of each case, Internship/Project submissions will be allowed after this date. Files must be labelled according to the same rules as the Internship/Project Plan.
The structure of the report should follow the indications in the template available on moodle.

Presentation and defence of work
All individual work for which the report is submitted by midnight on the first day of the normal exam period will be presented and defended orally during the normal exam period on a date to be set in Sigarra.

Work whose reports are submitted after this deadline (no later than midnight on the first day of the appeal period) will be presented and defended in the appeal period on a date to be set in Sigarra.

Oral presentations must be submitted on the moodle platform no later than 1 hour before the start of the presentation sessions.

The timetable with the date and time of the presentations will be made available up to 5 working days before the date.

Each student will have 10 minutes to present their individual work. This will be followed by a debate in which the members of the jury will ask questions and the student will have to answer them.

The maximum total duration of the exam is 25 minutes.

The Internship/Project Presentation and Defence sessions are open to the public.

Eligibility for exams

To be admitted to the Report, Presentation and Defence component, the Student must obtain a minimum of 10/20 in the assessment of the Internship/Project by the Supervisor.

Calculation formula of final grade

The assessment has two components:

a) Assessment of the Internship/Project by the Supervisor, with a weight of 20% in the final grade; the Supervisor will take into account the Intern's Assessment by the Supervisor.
b) Evaluation of the Report, Presentation and Defence (at exam period) with a weight of 80% in the final grade, which includes the following parts:
i) Report - the Jury assesses the written document (weight 60%)

ii) Presentation - the Jury assesses the oral presentation (weight 12%)

iii) Performance - the Jury assesses performance in answering the questions posed (weight 28%)

The assessment panel will be made up of three teachers: Coordinator (UC lecturer), Supervisor and Voting Member (examiner). The examiner must be from the scientific area of the Internship/Project. If it is not possible for the UC lecturer to be the Coordinator (because he/she is the supervisor), he/she must be replaced by another lecturer.
