Objectives
the objectives of this UC are to make known what agriculture is, its systems and modes of production, namely organic production. At the end of the course, students will be familiarized with the principles and techniques of organic farming as well as the vocabulary of this scientific area.
Learning outcomes and competences
At the end of this course the student will be able to explain what is, and what is not, organic farming, in which it differs from other modes of agricultural production, how it emerged and how it is evolving. You will be familiar with the main techniques as well as the vocabulary used in this area of knowledge

2. Organic Agriculture: how it came about, what characterizes this mode of production, its importance and predictable evolution.
3. General operations for installation and maintenance of crops in organic production
• Soil, its characteristics and preparation and maintenance techniques
• Sowing and planting
• Vegetative propagation
• Crop protection
• Other cultural operations
4. Other issues related to organic farming: legislation on seed marketing, ban on the use of genetically modified organisms

The final classification will be calculated with the following formula: CF = 60% Individual test + 40% assignments, each component being able to be composed of more than one element.

There may be an improvement in the classification in the appeal exam for students who request it.
