Objectives

The UC dissertation aims to the final thesis.

The Dissertation reports work associated with scientific research activities, primarily academic in nature.

Learning outcomes and competences

The presentation of the thesis should reflect the knowledge acquired during the course and self capacity to carry out research in advanced scientific fields.

This course is clearly favorable to the development of integrated problem analysis skills from concept, through the understanding of physical phenomena and ending in applications. The teaching methodology taking into account a strong interaction between the teacher/student through lectures tutorials lab/computing supervised by the supervisor (s). This methodology has as main advantages the transmission of knowledge through contact with different perspectives, allowing students to learn different methods of problem solving and different perspectives, whether scientific, or technological, thus enriching the students' experience in situations practices. On the other hand, the application of acquired knowledge to real cases has proven more effectively for learning, especially in advanced studies, also allowing students to achieve easier and solidly the planned objectives. Also the use of existing laboratories in the department/research groups in help students better understand the concepts and methodologies for research. So this way it is hoped that students at the end have acquired tools and concepts so that they can be easily integrated in the labor market or in pursuing higher studies.
