Objectives

Develop an interest in students about the large scale evolution of the Universe, including the discussion of recent results and open problems.

Learning outcomes and competences

It is expected that students acquire a relatively deep knowledge about the Universe and its large scale constituents. It is further expected that students develop skills of comprehension of scientific studies and critical thinking about the results presented.

Working method

Presencial

Program

Historical Introduction. The Cosmological Principle. Newtonian Cosmology. Relativistic Cosmology. Observational Cosmology. The cosmic microwave background radiation. The Primordial Universe: nucleosynthesis; inflation. Formation and evolution of large scale structures in the Universe.
