Objectives

 

Develop critical capacity over the management and maintenance of green spaces;

Be aware of the impact of maintenance actions in the evolution of green space and how they should be implemented so as to achieve the aims of the project;

Identify the cultural operations necessary to maintain a garden or a park, relative to appropriate levels of quality and costs;

Evaluate the relative importance of maintenance and know how to establish priorities.

 

Learning outcomes and competences

Outcomes: Landscape Management Master Plans, Maintenance Plans, Planting Plans, Quantification charts, Vegetation surveys and mapping.

2. Management and Maintenance Plans and Projects: Operative units - typologies. Decision Support System: Critical path method.

3. Producing Management Plans - CabeSpace proposal for the structure and organization.

Eligibility for exams

1. Assiduity: mandatory attendance at 75% of practical classes and at all field trips.

2. Fulfillment of all assessment times on the indicated dates:

2.1 Management Plan for a public park in the city of Porto (50%)
2.2 Assessment of the management of a public park of the city of Porto

  • Field assessment report - 20%
  • Desk Assessment report - 10%

2.3 Ppt presentation of the GFA criteria and parameters - 20%


Students must obtain a minimum grade of 8.5 values in any of the evaluation components, in order to obtain approval in the course unit.

Students excused from regular attendance must fulfill the evaluation moments on the dates indicated.

Calculation formula of final grade

Final rating = 2.1*0,5 + 2.2*0,3 + 2.3*0,2 

 

 

Examinations or Special Assignments

Another assessment date can be booked if a student cannot be present for health reasons or other justifiable circumstances (according to the law) during individual evaluations. Justification document is needed.

This is not valid for group assessment.
