Objectives

The main objective of the Internship curricular unit is to provide the students a professionally oriented learning experience aimed at a geologist's career both in enterprise environment and in the context of scientific research.
It is also intended to complement the training in Geology, whether for the immediate entry into the labour market or for the continuation of university studies.

Learning outcomes and competences

The student should be able to carry out, under the guidance of a professor, work of initiation to research, or of Applied Geology in an enterprise environment.
The student should be able to perform autonomous work and, whenever it is necessary, team work.
The student should be able to prepare a properly structured report, presenting the work carried out with clarity and scientific rigour.
The student should be able to make an oral presentation and to discuss the work carried out.

Program

In the Internship curricular unit the student conducts, under the guidance of a professor, work of initiation to research, or of Applied Geology in an enterprise environment.
The student
writes a synthesis report which is later presented and discussed publicly.

Carrying out introductory research  work, or Applied Geology work, under tutorial guidance.
Elaboration of a technical and/or scientific report.
