Objectives

The main objective is that the student in the final semester has made a geological map of an area of about one square kilometer on a certain scale. To do so will have to use a topographic map provided and use other complementary means such as Google Earth. It must include lithological aspects, mineralogical, structural, etc. As with any geologic map must have a legend and a supporting report, similar to an explanatory note.

Learning outcomes and competences

As the following skills acquired are expected:
Ability to collect data in the field, record these observations and make interpretations.
Implementation of lithological and structural aspects in appropriate maps.
Capacity for synthesis and preparation of a proposal for a geological map.

Program

Consultation in the classroom of all the available data on the study area. Bibliography suggestion to consult.
Field visit with all students, covering the entire area to map, showing all lithologies present, as well as the characterization metamorphic, structural, and eventually mineralization that may be present.
Geological mapping of the area assigned to each group, the grades shown in the map provided. Special attention should be given to geological contacts and faults. Discussion between members of the same group on interpretation given to all of the data collected.
In the last field class there will be a field of examination to assess the ability of each student in the measurement structures, lithology identification and mineralization present.
