Sílvia Coimbra, Principal Investigator of the SPRED group - Sexual Plant Reproduction and Development - https://www.fc.up.pt/agplab/, which currently integrates the Associate Laboratory for Green Chemistry, LAQV Requimte, https://laqv .requimte.pt/. Her research area focuses on the Biology of Reproduction in Plants. Her research work has attracted a high level of funding, coming not only from national sources (Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, FCT) but also from international sources (Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, COST Actions, bilateral cooperation projects). The benefits of these funded projects have been important for her research group for the host institution that is FCUP, but they also extend to the students of this institution, more precisely from the Biology Department. All this work developed and established over more than a decade, sustains stable steps towards the future, with a strategy supported by a young, motivated and dynamic team.

As a researcher Sílvia Coimbra is involved in International and National projects such as SexSeed - Sexual Plant Reproduction - Seed formation RISE MSCA 690946, SeedWheels - Pollen-pistil interactions - a complex network of molecular pathways leading to the formation of the seed POCI-01-0145-FEDER -027839; Pine Wall - The relevance of cell wall composition and structure for pine wood nematode resistance in climate change scenarios PTDC/ASP-SIL/3142/2020.

As a professor, Sílvia Coimbra is involved in classes of the different cycles of study at the undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels and is the supervisor/co-supervisor of several master's and doctoral students.
