The Department of Biology is, at the Faculty of Sciences of University of Porto, responsible for teaching undergraduate degrees and graduate programs within the vast domain of Biology. Our Department performs fundamental and applied research, technical services and technological consultancy, as well as scientific outreach in a wide array of Biological Sciences. Since 2010 we are a large unified Department resulting from the merge of the previous Department of Botany and Department of Zoology and Anthropology, and holding an historic-cultural heritage dating back to the Institute of Anthropology Prof. Mendes Corrêa, the Institute of Botany Dr. Gonçalo Sampaio and Botanical Garden, the Institute of Zoology and Marine Zoology Station Dr. Augusto Nobre.
