Apresentação Pessoal

I am assistant professor at the Biology Department, Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto (FCUP); researcher at the Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources - CIBIO/InBIO Associate Lab, University of Porto; head of the Avian Ecology research group, at CIBIO/InBIO; member of the Scientific Commission of the Master in Biodiversity, Genetics and Evolution (FCUP); chair of the Woodcock and Snipe Specialist Group (within Wetlands and Species Survival Commission - IUCN). My research is on bird biology and ecology, for population management and conservation purposes, in insular and continental environments, and extends to subjects like insular adaptations, intraspecific variation in avian migration (evolutionary and regulatory aspects), functional morphology, biogeography of birds in the Macaronesian archipelagos, the use of ecological modelling techniques combined with geographic information systems for modelling bird population's dynamics.
