Objectives
To encourage students' autonomous work, as well as stimulating both critical thinking and familiarity with the scientific research and its communication.
Learning outcomes and competences
Ability to summarize, and at the same time understand, both the main aspects and the propelling ideas supporting mathematical results.
Recognition of the importance of scientific rigour in the proof of mathematical results.
Ability to structure an oral presentation concerning a research work in Mathematics.

Presentation, critical analysis and discussion of scientific papers.
Whenever possible, the topics covered will be suggested by the students' supervisors, so that the work in this CU helps in supporting the study and writing of the dissertation.

Calculation formula of final grade
The students will be evaluated by their oral presentations and respective report supporting it, as well as by their participation in the lectures:
- mathematical and pedagogical quality of the talk: 12 points;
- written report supporting it: 6 points;
- participation in the scientific discussion of presentations: 1 point;
- participation in the lectures: 1 point.
