Objectives
The main goal of this course is to give students the opportunity to have a first contact with research activity developed by the PhD Program faculty. This is achieved by attending seminars delivered by teachers, researchers and other students that are in a more advanced stage of their studies, and also by giving talks in seminar sessions.
The Seminar course aims to develop the following skills:
- knowledge of mathematical results;
- ability to formulate questions and solve problems;
- ability to deliver rigorous and clear oral and written presentations;
- ability to develop autonomous learning, research and communication skills.
The students should end this course with a more profound perception not only of the research themes of the PIUDM PhD Program faculty, but also having an idea about the general Mathematics research.
Learning outcomes and competences
The student’s work is also expected to better prepare them for selecting the research area they will pursue and for applying their knowledge in the subsequent stage of writing a doctoral thesis.
