Objectives

Acquire sufficient skills to recognize the need to use geological and/or geophysical prospecting methods, recommend the most appropriate, taking into account the limitations and potential of each one, and provide interpretations of the most relevant information of the case studies.

In general terms, we intend to further extend the training in Exploration beyond the level acquired  during the 1st cycle in order to acquire coordination, management and innovation skills to allow an autonomously technical monitoring, applied already in their project/master thesis or possibly later in professional or research programs.

It is also intended that the methods that are learned help deal with complex issues, develop solutions and make judgments on limited or incomplete information situations, having the ability to propose exploration campaigns, taking into account the technical and economic constraints.

Learning outcomes and competences

At the end of the teaching of this course, you have as expectation that the student has knowledge of a wide variety of techniques of Geological and Geophysical Prospecting for the acquisition, analysis, interpretation and presentation of relevant geological data. To this will be able as geologist to solve various problems, meeting the training needs required by contemporary society, which requires professionals with qualifications to make relevant recommendations to decision-making issues. Ability to read and evaluate a report or a publication of Geological and Geophysical Exploration.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The theoretical notions are presented in a "power point" which is available to students. In practical part are applied the theoretical concepts of classical cases or the application of actual research. This training is complemented with field visits to projects of Geological Explorationg of today.
