Objectives

To understand the genesis and development of relief/landscape of Portugal in connection with the geology and geotectonic settings and exogenic processes.

To identify and describe the landforms characteristics and its relationship with the geomorphic processes and climate.

To describe geomorphologic relevant aspects of Portugal.

Learning outcomes and competences

It is intended that students acquire skills in:

- to observe the relief/landscape to identify and characterize the landforms;

- to relate the landforms with the geomorphological processes and climate;

- to understand the genesis of landforms and its evolution in the geological and tectonic setting in association with the exogenous processes.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Presentation and discussion of geomorphologic aspects of Portugal, its genesis and evolution. Analysis in the field of some aspects presented during the lectures. Using topographic and geological maps to identify and characterize landforms. As didactic resource will be used Powerpoint presentation which will be put on-line for the students use.
