Objectives

The main goal of this course is to give students the opportunity to have a first contact with research activity developed by the  PhD Program faculty. This is achieved by attending seminars delivered by teachers, researchers and other students that are in a more advanced stage of their studies, and also by giving talks in seminar sessions.
The Seminar course aims to develop the following skills:
- knowledge of mathematical results;
- ability to formulate and solve problems;
- ability to perform written and oral presentations in a clearly and rigorous way;
-  ability to develop self-learning, research and communication skills.
The students should end this course with a more profound perception not only of the research themes of the PhD Program faculty, but also having an idea about the general Mathematics research.

Learning outcomes and competences

It is expected that the work of the student will prepare him better for his choice of the research area in which he will work and the application of his knowledge in the future, when working on the PhD thesis.
