Objectives

A. To carry out activities and functions in the area of formation of the degree, with tutorial orientation.

B. Promoting students' curricular enrichment according  to their future professional integration by: i) providing contact with the professional reality; (Ii) allow the application of acquired knowledge and the acquisition of new knowledge, skills and competences; (Iii) enable the development of exposure and argumentation capabilities; Iv) to promote the capability to initiate and adapt to new situations; V) promote group work and integration into multidisciplinary teams; and (vi) to promote the scientific spirit.

Learning outcomes and competences

In this Unit student must integrate knowledge acquired during the graduation program and also develop skills that leads to a successful conclusion of the academic formation in Sciences of Engineer.

Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)

The student must be in situation of possible conclusion of the graduation in the same year

Program

The program is developed specifically for each student according to the internship / project plan and under the guidance of a teacher. The host institution may be a public or private company, or an institution, research center or organic unit of a university. The internship / project plan is defined prior to the start of student activity between the student, the FCUP teacher, and the supervisor of the host institution.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Work in the host institution (company, research center, university department) with supervision in the host institution (element to designate in the collaboration protocol) and individual tutorial guidance of FCUP teacher.

Eligibility for exams

To be admitted to exam student must have had at least 10/20 in the internship.

Calculation formula of final grade

The assessment of the course unit will consist of the weighted average of the following components:

A) Evaluation of the internship / project made by the FCUP teacher, with weight of 20% in the final classification.

B) Evaluation of the exam including the following parts:

  1. Report - the teacher and examining board evaluate the written report (weight 60% of the exam)
  2. Presentation - the examining board evaluates the oral presentation (weight 12% of the exam)
  3. Performance - The examining board evaluates the performance in the answers to the questions asked (weight 28% of the exam).
