Objectives

The main goal of this course is to review and learn cconcepts in algebra and apply them in three mathematical areas: theory of codes, theory of designs and theory of graphs.

Learning outcomes and competences

As well as gaining a wider and more solid ground in algebra, at the end of the course, the student will have seen other areas of mathematics, mainly in combinatorics, and more precisely in theory of codes, theory of designs and theory of graphs.

Working method

Presencial

Pre-requirements (prior knowledge) and co-requirements (common knowledge)

Linear algebra and Group Theory

Program

The topics (to be fulfilled as the course evolves) to be seen will be within:

1) Theory of codes

2) Theory of designs

3) Theory of graphs.

In each of those three parts, the needed algebraic tools will be developed
