Objectives

Teach the fundamentals of surveying: instrumentation and methodology used in data collecting and processing aiming at represent the terrain in a map or chart, using classical surveying methods.

Learning outcomes and competences

The students should know the elements of: surveying instruments (levels, telescopes, spirit levels, tacheometers, optical and electronic  theodolites); horizontal and vertical angle measurements; distance measurements; tacheometry; determination of plane coordinates intersection and traversing); levelling methods.

The course should prove to be valuable for education of professionals in a wide spectrum of the geosciences and related fields.
