Objectives

Part I — Pedology To recognize soil as a system containing solid materials (mineral or organic), liquid materials (soil solution) and gaseous materials (water vapour and other gases), which may support plant growth. To know the soil forming factors. To recognize the environmental and social-economic importance of soil systems. To know the field, laboratory and other methods and techniques commonly used in soil related scientific and technological activities. Part II — Hydrology To know the functioning of underground and surface hydrologic systems. To recognize the environmental and social-economic importance of hydrologic systems. To know the field, laboratory and other methods and techniques commonly used water resources related scientific and technological activities.

Learning outcomes and competences

Students should acquire skills to successfully to carry out scientific-technological tasks in pedology and Hydrology.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The presentation of theoretical classes will be carried out using Microsotf Office Powerpoint. The presentations will be sent to the students as PDF files. Practical classes will include exercises solved in the classroom as well as field trips.
