To enable students to be familiar with concepts of in vitro cell (animal and plant cells) cultures and their practical applications.
Upon conclusion of the course, the student should be able to:
- Recognize the various techniques of in vitro cultures
- Develop methodologies for the establishment of animal and plant cell cultures
In vitro plant and animal cell cultures; commonly used culture media and culture conditions. Sterilization procedures. Different types of animal cell cultures and applications. Use of plant cell cultures for micropropagation (axillary shoot proliferation, organogenesis and embryogenesis). Other applications of plant cell cultures.
Lectures and laboratory classes. Lectures are presented in slideshow using the software "PowerPoint". Laboratory classes enable the acquisition of specific skills, including those arising from the implementation of practical experiments. These classes are compulsory.

Final grade: final exam covering theory and practical subjects graded to 15 points and oral presentation of a program subject graded to 5 points.
