Objectives

Complete training in classical physics (oscillations and waves, electromagnetism, electrical circuits, electromagnetic waves) using a mathematical formulation of intermediate level.

Program

Oscillatory movements.
Simple harmonic motion. Damped and forced oscillators.
Superposition of harmonic motions with the same direction (equal frequencies and different frequencies) and perpendicular directions.
Electrical current. Direct-current circuits.
Ohm's Law. Kirchhoff's laws and circuit analysis; RC circuits.

Magnetic field.
Laws of Biot-Savart and Ampere.

Electromagnetic induction.

Laws of Faraday and Lenz. Inductance.

Alternating electric current.
Analysis of AC circuits, LC circuits and RLC.

Electromagnetic waves.
Maxwell's equations. Electromagnetic waves. Electromagnetic wave interference. Interference pattern obtained with two slits (Young's experiment). Diffraction. Diffraction pattern of a slit.
