Personal Presentation

Catarina Lobo graduated in Physics/Applied Mathematics (Astronomy) at the University of Porto in 1992. She was awarded the Diplôme d'Études Approfondies en Astrophysique et Techniques Spatiales by the University of Paris in 1993 and a PhD, from the same university and in the same topic, in 1997.

Since November 2000 she is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, currently integrating the Department of Physics and Astronomy (since 2004, having previously integrated the Department of Applied Mathematics). She is also an Effective Associate of the Center for Astrophysics of the University of Porto (CAUP) since 2000, integrating since 2015 the Institue of Astrophysics and Space Sciences (IA).

Previously, she was a post-doctoral fellow at the Astronomical Observatory of Brera in Milan (1997-1999) and at the Astronomical Observatory of Lisbon - Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics of the University of Lisbon (2000).

Her current research interests, within IA/CAUP's team in Galaxies, Cosmology and Evolution of the Universe, focus on the study of the physical properties of galaxies and their evolution, as well as on the environmental effects on these properties (namely in galaxy clusters).
