The Engineering degree brings a solid scientific foundation together with basic techniques, permitting the graduate to either enter directly in the workforce or continue studies in the areas of agricultural engineering, food engineering or geographic engineering. This degree is unique in its flexibility, permitting the student to delay the choice of a specialisation until the second cycle, thereby allowing for a more careful and informed decision.
AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING
This degree supplies well-rounded technicians with specific training in a range of agricultural sciences such as in agro-food marketing, in order to prepare them to adapt to a range of different agricultural fields or those related to agriculture, whether in industry or the service sector, in food production or in rural development. Students may also continue to second cycle studies in agricultural engineering or related master’s degrees, such as those in post-harvest science and technology, consumer and nutritional science or in viticulture and oenology.
FOOD ENGINEERING
Graduates from this programme have a specific knowledge set permitting them to conceive, plan and utilise industrial equipment and technological processes and to carry out professional functions in the sectors of the production, transformation and commercialisation of food. They may also continue to second cycle studies in food engineering or related master’s degrees, such as those in food science, technology and safety, post-harvest science and technology, consumer and nutritional science or in viticulture and oenology.
GEOGRAPHICAL ENGINEERING
Holders of this degree are prepared to perform topographic functions utilising satellite positioning and navigating, analysing and processing remote sensing images working either in companies or in local or public administration. They may also continue their studies into the second cycle, pursuing a degree in geographic engineering or a similar master’s degree such as geographic information systems.
