Objectives
i - Taking into consideration the artistic practices, to promote and consolidate knowledge regarding the last century’s art: installation, performance, site-specific and public art, emphasizing the master pieces and authors which greatly influenced the practice and thinking of the contemporary culture.
ii – To promote and consolidate critical assessment skills directed to the most emblematic movements that occurred in the United States of America and South America during the second half of the twentieth century and following decades. Movements and main protagonists, master pieces and authors in economical, cultural, and political contexts.
iii – To promote and consolidate, whenever necessary, more comprehensive knowledge in the context of Art History (broad sense) with incidence in the practice of sculpture, privileging the study of cases (works and authors) of unavoidable notoriety, namely in the aspects related to the production of works in a civilizational (intercultural) context.
iv – To instigate students using tools that value their potential as researchers.

Eligibility for exams
Class reports according to the content covered.
Research work guided by the professor, to be presented at the end of the semester, according to the student's proposal.
Participation in discussions of the topics presented.
Calculation formula of final grade
The calculation of the final classification is done by considering a critical analysis text on the developed subjects, a thematic presentation in class, and the participation in classes throughout the semester (in percentages of 40%, 40%, and 20% respectively).
Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)
Test with access to reference readings. The student can opt for continuous evaluation by submitting the requested elements and for attending the Test, with the highest classification being valid for the purposes of the final score.
