Apresentação Pessoal

A fine artist, poet and academic scholar, Filipa Sofia Correia de Carvalho e Cruz (b. 1990) has been practising in the fields of sculpture, aesthetics and literature since 2012. She currently works as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, as an Integrated Researcher at i2ADS—Institute of Art, Design and Society and as a Collaborating Researcher at CHAM—Açores.

She has a PhD from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, a Master's degree from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and a postgraduate degree from the Université Panthéon-Sorbonne. She is currently completing doctoral research on manifestations of the insular space in the area of Insular Literatures and Cultures at the University of the Azores and the Università di Corsica Pasquale Paoli.

She exhibits regularly in Portugal, France and Italy. To date, she has presented more than a dozen artistic and literary creation projects recognized and funded by DGArtes, the Regional Government of the Azores, the Medeiros e Almeida Foundation, ENSBA Paris / Ministère de la Culture de France, BJCEM, the University of Madeira / FCT and Funchal City Council.

In 2021, she won the Letras Lavadas Literary Competition with her book of poems "Até Os Tempos Não Mais Serem Interditos", which has been part of the Azores Regional Literary Plan since 2023.

As of 2023, she is the Chief Editor of HUB — Journal of Research in Art, Design and Society (https://i2ads.up.pt/hub/).

She holds almost a decade of experience as a Professor and Coordinator of the Transdisciplinary New Media Department at the Paris College of Art.

As a speaker and reviewer, she has participated in more than three dozen international conferences and has advised, as of 2018, three dozen Master's and Doctoral Theses. She has taken part in more than six dozen Master's Degree Defense Juries.

Since 2023, Filipa Cruz has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the Master's Degree in Fine Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, where she has been lecturing theoretical-practical project-based courses and methodological approaches to studio practice and scientific-artistic research since 2018.

Filipa de Carvalho e Cruz has outlined five propositions that organize her artistic-scientific research: Eros and Anteros; Ruin; Desire and Will; Intertextuality; Ingenuity and Fiction.

The diegetic nature of her artistic work has enabled her to postulate four epitomes: the Dialectic of Affections; the Metaphorology of the Voyage; the Engineering of the Shipwreck; and the Annunciation of the Ambiguous.

The invocation of Love permeates the entirety of her literary and sculptural cosmos.
