Objectives

The discipline of Urban Anthropology is interested in a whole range of issues related to various otherness - social, cultural, sexual, ethnic, etc. - that form the basis of the social fabric and that coexist in urban contexts. The main objective of this course is to promote among students an "anthropological and denatured gaze" on the socio-cultural complexity from the urban exploration of theoretical texts of theories and conceptual tools of anthropological sciences.

Learning outcomes and competences

The result of learning is reflected in a set of knowledge, skills and capabilities in terms of critical thinking that students may use in their professional practice and artistic.

Based on the general objectives of the course the syllabus was organized from a set of fundamental concepts and theories in order to understand the contemporary world. Ethnography and the theme of migration will be addressed in greater depth throughout the semester.

Calculation formula of final grade

The final examination is replaced by a practical work (video, poster or photography) and a written essay, as agreed with the students at the beginning of the semester. The practical work will be presented in class and the written work may not exceed 2000 words; both works must be related to the main topic of the course, which will be discussed in class during the semester: comtemporary migration. On the day of the examination (regular season or other) students should submit the written essay by email to the teacher.
