Objectives
This UC intends to discuss with the student population
some historical moments in human communication since the
advent of humanity and to present the main theoretical
ways of seeing communication since the beginning of
the 20th century of our era.
Learning outcomes and competences
At the end of the semester, the student should be able to:
-Identify macro-events and communicational micro-phenomena, in a diachronic and synchronic perspective;
-Re-examine communicational situations and postulates in the light of semiotics;
-Problematize the crises that cross the dualities of orality and writing, verbal and non-verbal, vision and reading and medium and message.

Eligibility for exams
Qualified participation in class discussions and
attendance of at least 75% of classes
Calculation formula of final grade
Appreciation of activities in class and group work.
The small essay should have as a reference the concerns
of the UC and the approaches developed in the classes
as well as the possible articulations explored by the
students.
Oral presentation:
The small essay should establish a discussion plan that
will be oraly presented by the group in the classroom
context.
Exam (individual essay + group book):
Based on this discussion plan, an individual text should
be written by each member of the group, constituting a
section of a book organized by the group.
The book must be delivered on the day set during the
exam period.
The appeal exam focuses on the subjects and work
developed in class and consists of an individual essay
with about 2000 words.
