Objectives
- To be able to understand and evaluate the main theoretical axes that structure the field of Sociology of Culture.
- To be able to sociologically assess the processes of cultural production, diffusion/mediation and consumption/reception.
- To be able to relate the complexity of contemporary "art worlds” and “culture worlds” to the phenomenon of cultural globalization and "advanced" and/or "flexible" capitalism.
- To be able to apply the acquired concepts to concrete practices and empirical cases, privileging the analysis of present-day Portuguese society.
Learning outcomes and competences
Consolidation of the curricular competences through the critical and reflexive appropriation of the taught contents.

Teaching methods and learning activities
This curricular unit will involve theoretical-practical classes (with a duration of two hours each) that will include lectures, empirical illustrations and moments of critical and reflexive debate, initiated from the contents presented in the classroom.
