Personal Presentation

Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto, developing academic and research activity in the fields of art history, art theory, and curatorial studies, with a focus on 20th- and 21st-century artistic production. Areas of interest within Art History and Museum and Curatorial Studies include experimental artistic processes, the transformation and revision of artistic paradigms, interdisciplinary approaches, and the reading of history through the institutional integration of artworks (collection building) and exhibition history.

Since 2000, professional work has been developed across museums and art centers, with a particular focus on collection management, exhibition programming, and production. In Portugal, collaborations include the Museum of the Faculty of Fine Arts, the Soares dos Reis National Museum, and the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art. International experience includes positions at the Netherlands Media Art Institute / Montevideo, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Museum of Contemporary Art at the University of São Paulo. Between April 2017 and August 2025, served as Artistic Director of the Oliva Art Centre, with responsibility for the exhibition program and the coordination of institutional projects. Her curatorial projects, developed at the CAO, include Jaime, I saw one of my female dogs with wolves (2021); Light Beam: projected sculpture, exposed cinema (2022); Parallel cultures (2023, FBAUP); Gaëlle Rouard: flaming darkness (2023) and Renato Ferrão: Für Fur Fur Fúria de Viver (2024).

Holds a PhD from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP), awarded in 2016, based on research conducted between Portugal and the United States within a joint doctoral programme, partially carried out at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). The doctoral thesis is entitled The Dissemination of Film in the Visual Arts (1958–1980): From Artistic Production to Integration into Collections. The International Context and the Portuguese Case.
Coordinates the seed project IMAP — Moving Image in Portuguese Art (1950–2010): A Study towards the Creation of an Online Catalogue of Artistic Production in Film and Video, at I2ADS/FBAUP.
